Making a Statement with Promotional Products

If there is one thing about most people, it is that they love to feel involved in causes. A great way to take advantage of this fact is to have your latest promotional product support a cause. One of the reasons this works so well is that when you make a statement with a promotional product, your customers feel as though they have helped to make that statement and when that statement is something people feel strongly about, they will be sure to visit your business. While it is true that branding your business with a particular statement such as lower taxes, go green, or any number of similar sentiments will increase business there is the chance that if you take a course that is not popular with a majority of your hopeful customer base you could loose business.

Speaking to Your Community
When planning a promotional campaign that plans to take advantage of sponsoring a certain idea or statement, it is important to make sure the idea or statement you will be using is something hat a majority of the community you are in can get behind. Part of what makes this process complicated is that each community is different. What may work in Seattle may not work in Las Vegas. This means that there are really two ways to approach the problem. The first is find a general type of statement that almost everyone would agree with. The second is to target a specific segment of your community and use a statement that would generate interest from that section.

Choosing an Issue
When using the first and more generally appealing approach there are more than a few things you can choose to support. Buy American, Encouraging people to vote, or any number of local issues that are important as a whole are sure ways to get positive attention. After you have chosen your statement it is a simple matter of putting it on a neat promotional product and distributing them. The only real problem with going this way is that when you choose an item almost everybody agrees on you don’t get as much attention as you could. However this is a safe and effective option.

When using a statement that may be less popular in your community, you are taking a gamble. This gamble is that there are enough people who will respond positively to your statement that they will offset the potential negative effect. While it is indeed a gamble, if the campaign is successful you are looking at a big payoff as well. Not only that but you may just succeed in changing a few peoples minds over to your way of thinking.

Some issues that may bring a bit of negative attention to your business are things that cause a large amount of digression in almost any community. These can range from taking a stand on either side of the immigration issue to supporting a particular political candidate. However, though it is a risky venture, taking a stand on an issue that has vocal movements on either side can lead to a large amount of support from people who share a similar and this of course means more business. Another thing to consider is the fact that most issues become less and less prominent as time goes on, and as they do so you can take action to regain any patronage you have lost.

No matter if your statement is a generally accepted one, or a riskier but vocal one, it adds one more way to engage the public in your promotional campaign. This is important in today’s competitive markets, as something as simple as your willingness to stand on an issue can make the difference between someone shopping at your business versus the one down the street. In fact not only is this a great way to gain attention for your business or service, it is also a great way to forward an idea or belief that may be something you care about deeply. There is nothing wrong with using your business to forward personal beliefs, just make sure those beliefs are compatible with your community or you may find yourself on the short end of negative opinion rather quickly.
